I've been looking and looking and looking. Everything is either in crappy condition or overpriced.
This may belong in the Buy/Sell section, but I chose here as it's the most active spot on the forum.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Condition is everything when collecting books. If you want a pristine copy you will have to pay the market value.
The ones on ebay are either book club editions or price clipped poor copies. Go to the specialist bookstores and request a fine/fine copy.

I've done that, this is another feeler I'm putting out.
There has to be somewhere between $20 for a MEH copy and $250+ for a Fine copy.

The problem with early UK hardback books is the paper they used to print them. It turns brown after a few years, so pristine copies are almost impossible.

Hi - I do have UK first in mint/fine condition - however as Mr R-T notes the paper stock does indeed turn brown over time (as is the case with my copy).
The book itself has a mint/fine dust wrapper - protected in a Brodart or Mylar wrap - the boards and block are tight, but despite being kept in a smoke free and pet free dark environment - the browning is evident.
I'm no longer collecting UK firsts, so it is available if you're interested - send me a pm.
