The story, The Cat from Hell, has a rather convoluted history. The first part was published in the March 1977 Cavalier as part of a competition. The entire King story was eventually published in the June 1977 issue. One of the competition winner's (Phil Bowie) story was published in the September 1977 issue and another competition winner, Marc Rains, was published in the December 1977 issue of Gent.

King's version has been reprinted in a number of horror anthologies, Magicats!, Year's Finest Fantasy (eddited by Terry Carr) in 1978 and others.

Bowie's version was even serialized in the New Bern Magazine in the March and April 1984 issues.

A lot of this information came from Justin Brooks' Bibliography.

It was included in King's collection Just After Sunset also in a slightly revised version.

Look what arrived today (yay):

I've noticed this was signed in black pen, while photos of others I have seen have always had blue pen. Should I be worried?

Thanks guys. Picked this up for only $625 off ABE too.

Does anyone have any info on how some copies of this were signed in blue and black ink?

These appear to be photocopies, but for the price, I think they were worth it.

Nice! Should be getting my UK Dr. Sleep copy within the next few days. probably the most hassle I've had to go thru to get a book in quite some time.

I got my copy of the UK WH Smith edition of Doctor Sleep today. I now have four of the five UK editions: the signed limited, the standard trade edition, the Waterstones edition and the WH Smith edition. I haven't yet received my copy of the 700-copy with the facsimile signature.

I'm still looking for the trade US and UK proofs.
