Hello,
I'm new to this forum, but I've googled without finding anything useful (maybe I ook for the wrong terms...)
I've got a US copy of Carrie (not the 1st edition, but it seems a reprint). The cover is the same as the 1st edition, published by Doubleday, with golden text on the side. Tthe book has no marks on page 199. The copyright pages has the following numbers 11 13 15 17 18 16 14 12. The street price on the dustjacket is $17.95.

questions:
* Is this an 11th edition ?
* I can't find anything about the printing year. Do you know when this one was printed ? (Usually in Italy there is a note in the last page of the books with the month and year of printing, plus the city and other infos)

thanks for any information

thl

Yes it's an 11th printing.
There will be a alphanumeric code on page 199. This "gutter code" is the published month and year.
The 1st/1st of Carrie has the code P6. This means the 6th week of 1974.

P =1974, Q=1975, R=1976

Thanks for the info, but there's no codes on page 199. This is why I thought it is a reprint/replica/whatever else.
I can post a scanned of the page if needed

That may help. Of course, if it's a REALLY later reprint, they may have never put the code in the gutter of the page. I don't know when they stopped doing it, or even if they have ever stopped.

Hi THL, welcome to the forums!

Based on the price of the DJ I would say the book was printed sometime between 1984 - 1986.

A 1st edition christine (published in 1983) had a DJ price of $16.95
1st editions of misery & EOTS (published in 1987) had a DJ price of $18.95
