I purchased this book back in the 70’s and realize now that it is a UK 1st edition ... according to criteria listed on this site. Pages are yellowed, but both book and dust jacket are in excellent condition. The real oddity is that someone crossed out 3 lines on the copyright page that apparently contained USA publishing info (with a black sharpie, no less). I’ve heard that this was done for some books, but I’m not sure why.
Can anyone provide more info about this edition as well as its possible value. If so, many thanks!

That is the UK first edition. The value has been almost wiped out by the Sharpie lines. Is the price still on the dust jacket?

Yes it is. Hopefully this picture comes through clearly. It shows 3.95 pounds.

The DJ looks to be in great condition. What a pity about the sharpie lines. Without the lines, this would be worth $400. My guess with the lines, $195. Just a guess.

Thank you! I really appreciate your help.
I’ve been slowly selling off my 40+ year collection on eBay and this one was a real mystery to me. I searched everywhere and could not find any info on this UK version. Now, at least, I have something to go on ... and I won’t just throw it into my next yard sale box. Thanks so much!
