This edition was unique in many respects. To date it is the only limited edition that has been released as 6 individual books. This was done in the spirit of the original Green Mile release. But this multi-volume approach, combined with the limited number of copies definitely contributed to the high initial price from the publisher.

In another first, the publisher announced that every person who pre-ordered a copy from the Subterranean Press website would get their name published in a special section of the gift edition. This one-of-a-kind announcement undoubtedly increased sales of the gift edition while giving fans a little something extra for their purchase.
