In July of 2023, I posted in "Other Editions" string that I had purchased an 2nd printing (Q41) ex-library 'Salem's Lot with a 2nd state dust jacket (price clipped with revised printing of $7.95 price and Father Cody error (viewtopic.php?t=2887&view=unread#unread).

Well, I bought an auction lot last month for $65 that included 22 King books. I was not expecting much, but to my surprise the lot included a 'Salem's Lot.... that is the same as my previous post but not ex-library.... 2nd state dust jacket (price clipped w/ $7.95 price re-printed and the Father Cody error) and the book having a Q41 gutter code. After the previous discussion, I understand the Q41 is a 2nd printing of the book and not considered a first edition, but it seems after these purchases, I am destined to collect 2nd printing 'Salem's Lot books with 2nd state dust jackets. This one is in pretty good shape.

And I am okay with it...

Congratulations! A nice surprise out of a box. You know I'm picturing those videos that crop up on my YouTube feed "I BOUGHT A PALLET OF AMAZON RETURNS FOR $750 SIGHT UNSEEEN!" etc. I suppose one could make a series like that for books, "I BOUGHT A MYSTERY BOX OF BOOKS AT AUCTION FOR $100" then open it up an BAM 100k followers and sweet sweet YouTube monetization.

Ahh...one can dream :)

You are probably already aware of this, but those second state jackets have good value.

If you ever run across a First Edition Salem's without a DJ or one in rough condition, you just upgraded your copy by marrying one of these DJ's to your first edition.

Great pickup.

Found The Stand.... less than $250.... in very good shape for an early Doubleday. Pity the corner is missing from the DJ - it was not like that prior to shipping....

Still looks like a solid find at a solid price, congrats!

I've been quite bad about posting, here's my latest. It doesn't have a signature/limitation page but it was the price of a gift edition.

Oh nice! I saw the announcement email for that book. What’s your rating of how Foilio Society did with this edition?
