Hi there - I have a hardback of Everything's Eventual from Scribner that I bought at a thrift store about a year ago. When I bought the book I thought it was a 1st edition of Cell, as that was the dust jacket on the book at the time. I didn't actually check the book under the dust jacket until after I got home. I was surprised to see the mix-up but enjoyed the read none-the-less.

The boards on this particular book are a dark grey/black and the spine has gold lettering. I assumed this was just a miscellaneous book club edition, but today when I checked the copyright page it turns out to be identical to the copyright page on the standard 1st edition of the book (i.e., it includes the full number line, including the number 1). Is this something that might be found in some book club or other common editions, other than regular 1st editions.

Thanks for any insight into this query. I'm very new to buying Stephen King books so I apologize in advance for my ignorance on the overall topic.

First U.S. editions of "Everything's Eventual" have gray and light-blue boards with silver writing on the spine; first UK editions have red boards with black writing on the spine.

Even though Book Club editions typically don't have complete number lines on their copyright pages like yours, the color of the boards seems to me to show that it is a Book Club.

Another sign of a possible Book Club edition is that the dust jacket won't have a price in the upper corner of the front dust just flap. Of course, that doesn't apply to you since you have the dust jacket for Cell.

Hmm, I'm not sure why the boards would be a different color. if it's a Scribner printing, with a $28 price on the DJ and has a number line 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 then I'd call it a first edition regardless of board color.
