Carrie, no gutter code, alternate cover?

Hello,
I have a trade copy of Carrie that is a 10th printing as per the number line on the CR page. There is no gutter code. Does anyone know when Doubleday changed the identification system from gutter codes to number lines on this title? Also, the cover of the book is different from the 1st/1st (red cloth spine/boards). Any idea when the cover design changed on this title? Thanks
