I have what I believe is a 1st edition copy of The Outsider but the numbers are bizarre! Can anyone explain why?
I can't upload a picture of the numbers but they are as follows:

11 13 15 17 19 20 18 16 14 12

Going on the numbers , though i'm not certain, but i would almost say this is an 11th printing of the Outsider. :|

A first edition of the outsider really should have this sequence of numbers; 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2

I understand that but because the book is so recently published how is it that its identified as an 11th print? All of my other hardcover SK books were purchased on the release date and have the same numbers less the addition of 10 to the sequential numbers. Très bizarre!

I really wouldn't know, as i said i am not certain.
Though looking at the sequence of the numbers, starting with 11 as with a first print it starts with 1.

But the outsider was released may 22nd 2018, within a week the Collector noticed on online forums that people already had second and third printings.
That was extraordinary fast.
Interestingly the online forums mention that folks are seeing even 2nd and 3rd printings within a week of the release date, indicating the 1st edition print run may be smaller than typical for a King book.
Maybe the Collector could shed some light on this subject for you. 😉

I've had a few people mention they are seeing printings incredibly high. Although it doesn't seem likely, the only explanation at this point that I have is that the print runs must have been much smaller than previous runs.

I'd love someone else to chime in with some actual facts though.
