Traycases - Store Vertically or Horizontally

A question for those with books in tray cases. Do you store them vertically or flat (horizontally)? It seems to me that storing them vertically might be hard on the bottom of the tray case and make it bow out. What do people do? I have most of mine vertical right now.

Vertically. A lot of mine have "padding" on them and it would be flattened if sat horizontally.

agreed - vertically. For most books they're not heavy enough to damage the case by putting them vertically.

What about those with clasps at the bottom, like Full Dark no Stars Lettered edition?

Hmm, I don't own any with that type of design. I'd expect I'd store mine upside down (clasp up) if that were the design. Or if the box was solid enough I might store it horizontally, but in general for almost all the books I own, I store them vertically.

I have a number that I store horizontally but only because many of my shelves aren’t tall enough to stand them up, or my shelves are full and I have laid them across the top of other books.

I'm hoping for some guidance by reviving this old thread. One of the responses here indicated that if a book isn't too heavy, it's a good idea to store it upright in the traycase. I have a lettered copy of IT, and it's in that huge box that's full of padding. I'm worried about the spine of the book getting crooked or weak if I store it upright (which is how I've been storing it since it was first published).

Does anybody have thoughts about whether or not I'm doing the right thing by keeping it this way?

As I only have the limited IT, I'm not sure how tight or loose the lettered edition sits in the case. In general if the Cemetery Dance lettered editions (which all seem to follow the same type of design for their lettered editions) had an issue being stored vertically we'd have heard something about it by now, as some of their lettered editions are now close to 20 years old. That being said it certainly won't hurt the book if you want to store it horizontally.
