Firestarter - the really expensive one

Post by surly »

I notice there's been an Asbestos Firestarter lingering on ebay for sometime with a $20K price tag.

Obiviously these babies don't show up for sale too often -- Anyone remember the last time they saw one on the market and what did it go for?

I don't remember exactly, but the last time I saw one was around 2 years ago and I thought it was in the $10-15 range. Like I said, my memory could be faulty.

The last few sold for somewhere between $14,000 - $16,000. While I wish the seller plenty of luck, I don't expect anyone to pay 20k in a less then red hot collectors market.

Just throwin' this out there to the universe, but if anyone has (or knows of someone) that wants to unload their copy send them my way.

You should try getting hold of the seller and see if he'd go down in price....after all, if you don't ask, you don't get

Mike Pasiuk is a great guy so it definitely wouldn't hurt to just ask him :D

Betts Books currently has an "M" lettered Firestarter on consignment for $19,000, marked down from $20,000. Today's economy and market being what it is, the seller may well accept a much lower offer ... again you never know if you don't ask.

Maybe I'll throw a $1K offer his way and it'll turn out be one of those divorcing wives selling the Porsche for $1 out of spite.

Um-hmmm, no such luck.

The copy listed at Betts is the same as the one mentioned 'upthread' that was listed on eBay.

Yep, same one.
I made a couple of offers on it but without any luck.
I got discouraged after my last offer and used the money to buy a couple of other items on my wish list instead, so it all worked out -- no regrets.

Damn, I wish I had bought that asbestos FIRESTARTER in 1995 when I could have picked it up for $400! Please form a line to kick me.

It is my understanding that there are now only 25. Anyone know the story behind the loss of the 26th?
