I have to share

Post by Billybumbler »

I managed to get my local bookstore's only signed edition of In the Tall Grass. I arrived an hour early and parked right across the store. There was no line yet. I felt my heart racing everytime a car drove by or someone walked by. A half hour before the store was to open I saw the owner walk in and enter the store. About five minutes later he comes out and starts recording promotional videos for the store. He goes inside and I decide now is the time to get in line. All of a sudden I see his worker coming down the sidewalk she tells me I can go in. I thank her and follow her in. The owner is still filming. I tell his worker I'm here to pickup the regular edition of in the tall grass that I had reserved. I ask if they have a signed edition. She doesn't think they do but then the owner starts filming and talking about the signed edition! I ask if I can purchase it after he gets done. He says "yeah if you want to pay the $49.95 price for it." I said "of course I will! Sold!" I'm smiling like a lunatic. I simply can't believe my luck! I was the only one in the store. Sometimes it pays to live in a small town. Apparently according to the ABA website there were 5000 copies of the book done, of which 300 were signed and distributed to 700 independent bookstores nation wide. I'm so lucky! Me, the person who never wins anything, finally had good luck strike! I am not sure how to post pics otherwise I'd post them.

That's an awesome story. Congratulations!

I couldn't even locate an unsigned copy, so I ended up paying a small premium on eBay to get one of the unsigned.

Again, great story.

Yeah, congrats! That's pretty amazing.

To post pics, when you're typing your message go BELOW the message to the attachments tab and upload your file (max size 256kb)

Or if the pic is already hosted somewhere....(flickr, imagur, etc) there's an icon in the top toolbar that you can click to embed the picture link....see my pic of me writing this reply as an example.

Thanks! I am attaching pics now. I took these pics while sitting in my car right after I bought it. That's how excited I was
