Carrie U.K. first edition HB

Post by GordonH »

Hi,
I've been looking for a 1st edition hard back U.K.copy (NEL) of Carrie for a long time now and have been put off by the ever increasing prices being asked. There is currently a copy for sale on ebay for £2750 and it is price clipped!! I cannot imagine the seller ever getting anything close to that price for a book with a price clipped dust jacket.
There is another copy on ebay for £100, which seemed remarkably good value, except that in the photos of the book the dust jacket appeared to be too tight a fit on the cover. It transpires that this book was destined for use as a library copy and the dust jacket had been laminated onto the cover. This is a real shame, as the dust jacket is in perfect condition (undoubtedly due to the lamination).
The book apparently never made it to the library, but has staining on the pages at the bottom edge of the book.
I'm sorely tempted to buy it, even with the laminated dust jacket.
Any thoughts?

Hi Gordon, I agree £2750 for a copy with a prices clipped DJ is crazy. For the other book though, link the eBay auction you’re looking at so we can weigh in.

Hi,
I'm not the most computer literate person on the planet, but here is my attempt to copy the link:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STEPHEN-KING ... Swm6xdvz8B

If this does not work, what I did was right clicked on "copy link address" on the ebay listing. Any suggestions as to how to do this properly would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Gordon

Hi,

Double clicking on the link doesn't seem to work, but right clicking on it and selecting "open link in new tab" works fine!
I'll make an I.T. expert yet!!

Cheers
