In this issue:
Update on Gauntlet's *He Is Legend*
Update on Gauntlet's *He Is Legend*
Why this list? He Is Legend is obviously a unique book, including the first collaboration between father and son Stephen King and Joe Hill. We won't inundate you with newsletters. We may send a monthly update or, if there is nothing new to report, we might skip a month. But, there could be questions you want answered and this is our way of communicating with all of those who purchased the book. You are free to opt out of this newsletter (see the bottom to unsubscribe), but if you do and something comes up you may be left unaware. For us communication is the key.
Please note - because of the newsletter software we use you will automatically be receive our twice-monthly Gauntlet Press newsletter with general information on our titles. You may, at any point, unsubscribe from either list. But, if you unsubscribe from the main newsletter you will also not receive the HE IS LEGEND Newsletter Updates and thus miss out on important updates on the book.
(1) Lottery for Lettered: There was justifiably confusion regarding the lettered edition of the book. We received over 90 orders for the 52 copy lettered edition. We cut off purchase of this edition on at midnight on March 31. We will conduct a lottery for those who ordered the lettered edition and let you know whether you won the lottery on or about May 1. We will send a message to DarkTower.com so word will spread that the lottery has been held. Those who did not win the lottery will remain on the waiting list and be contacted if anyone cancels their order. The signed numbered edition is also sold out and we have a waiting list.
(2) Credit cards expiring in 2008: The book will be published in late-February 2009 so we didn't expect everyone to have a 2009+ expiration date on their credit card. However, it is your responsibility to contact us with your new expiration date when you have it. We'll keep reminding you, but we need them before January 1. Just as with credit cards that are declined if we don't receive your new expiration date you go to the end of our waiting list and someone from the waiting list receives your book.
(3) Those sending checks: Sometime in December we'll remind those who want to pay via check to go ahead and send it in. Just as with credit cards that are declined if we don't receive your check you go to the end of our waiting list and someone from the waiting list receives your book.
(4) If you are on our waiting list and a copy of the lettered or signed numbered becomes available we will charge your credit card (in the order we received orders). Again, if is your responsibility to cancel your order prior to January 1 if you want to do so. We want to smoothly go ahead once we begin charging credit cards the first week in January. You will NOT be contacted for permission to charge your card. We will, however, email you to let you know you will be getting copy of the book if you are currently on the waiting list.
(5) Response time: We were obviously inundated with orders (600+ orders in our inbox the first day the book was announced). Those who regularly purchase from Gauntlet know we normally respond within one day. It became impossible with so many orders to process. We're caught up now and will respond in our normal timely fashion. If you are on one of our waiting lists (or receiving this newsletter) and your email address changes please provide us with the new address. Especially for those on our waiting lists, we can't contact you if we are unaware of an email address change.
(6) Calling in with cc information: Those who requested to contact us with your credit card information via phone please call in the afternoon (after 10AM MST time), including weekends. As we've said above, without your credit card, come January you will go to the end of the waiting list.
(7) Automatic confirmations: Those who have ordered from us in the past are reminded in each newsletter to ignore the first "notice" you receive. Those are automatically generated by the server. The "official" confirmation is the second one you receive, signed by publisher Barry Hoffman. We apologize for any confusion the first notice may have created. Unfortunately that is the way our server generates the automatic response.
(8) Unsigned limited edition: We will have a small print run for an unsigned limited edition of He Is Legend. We won't be taking orders until the fall, however. You will receive a newsletter announcing the unsigned limited at least 3-days before we officially announce this edition of the book. In this way those who ordered the signed editions from us will get some preferential treatment (though we can't, of course, stop the posting of announcements of this edition on websites when the time comes). We will not take any orders until we officially announce this edition in our newsletter (we have yet to price the book). You may order copies of this edition even if you have also ordered copies of the signed numbered or lettered editions. However, while you can order as many copies as you desire we reserve the right to limit the quantity purchased. Remember, ignore the first confirmation you receive from our server when we send out the announcement.
(9) Other Gauntlet Books you might be interested in: Many of you are visiting the Gauntlet Press website for the first time. He Is Legend is just one of many books we've published by Richard Matheson. If you're interested in some of our other Matheson titles visit our BOOKS AND PRODUCTS page and scroll down to Matheson. We have also published many books by Ray Bradbury, F. Paul Wilson's "Repairman Jack" series (these always sell out on publication), Jack Ketchum and others. Our most recent Matheson publication is THE RICHARD MATHESON COMPANION, which is of particular interest to his fans.
One Last Reminder: If your street address or email address changes between now and when the book is published please contact us immediately. Once books are shipped we can't be responsible for books sent to an incorrect address.
If you have a question regarding this newsletter please do not hit the reply button.
