Hello -
I have a HC edition of The Stand that I'm having trouble identifying what edition it may be. Here are some of the particulars:
- Copyright page has info presented in this way:
Copyright (c) 1978 by Stephen King
All Rights Reserved
Printed in the United States of America
14 16 18 20 21 19 17 15
BG
(you'll notice does NOT say First Edition)
- Dust Jacket price is 21.95 US
- Jacket illustration is the standard John Cayea
- No ID mark on page 823
- ISBN 0-385-12168-7
- Doubleday printing
I bought this book in Chicago not sure of year, probably early 90s/late 80s, definitely not anywhere near 1978 first printing time, BUT could be near the time when 1990 "complete" edition was printed, but is not that book (only 823 pages). Can anyone help with this?
Thanks.
What edition is my copy of The Stand?

Number line show's you have a 14th printing of the first edition. A first edition first print would have a number line starting with 1. Hope this help's..

14th? Holy cow...
I bought this in a retail book store at the time (Barnes and Noble, or some such place). Being a reader most of my life, but not a book collector per se, I wasn't sure what I was looking at. Do you know how many editions were printed in total?
Thanks for the info.

More editions are being printed all the time, King is a popular author and there are new paperbacks with various cover art, foreign editions, there's the revised and expanded edition, I'm sure as time goes on we'll see anniversary editions and more. The majority of them are not collectible though.elduderino wrote:14th? Holy cow...

The Stand (1978) and Rage are the only 2 books not currently in print.
