Re: the dead zone 1st edition blue or gray boards
Sorry I wasn't very clear.
The BCE and the First/First Edition both have black boards. The BCE CP says printed on 40 West Street has no price on the DJ.
I have never seen a blue board. What address does the CP say?

Re: the dead zone 1st edition blue or gray boards
You guys know that there has to be a price on the jacket for it to be a first printing right? Unless someone swapped the jackets with a BCE. You guys also know that this site has specific listings for what is a true first/first? Isn't that one of the main purposes of this site?
A true first of many of King's older books like this one has the address of 625 Madison on copyright page will the other one with a 40 and whatever is a BCE. I thought you guys were collectors?

If it doesn't have a price on the DJ, it's a BCE.miserywilkes wrote:hi, the blue board copy has the 625 Madison ave address,

If it does have a price on the DJ, I'd say it's still a BCE, just with a first edition (probably later printing) dust jacket.
I've seen both black and white boards on DZ BCEs. Not blue, but it's not like I'm really keeping track either.
Viking didn't move from Madison for years after The Dead Zone, so checking the address I think is only really good for identifying later BCEs, not early ones, I think there are probably years worth of BCEs printed with the "correct" address.
Are the books the same height? If one of them is less than 9.5", then it's a BCE for sure. There are plenty of BCEs with the 625 Madison address, but every single one I've seen is 8.5" instead of 9.5". And there are plenty of 9.5" BCEs, but every one I've seen has the later 40 something or other address.

Wow, some people need to chill out. I thought this sight was for people to talk about Stephen King and ask questions if they had any. Sorry if I have offended anyone with a "stupid" question because I am not an über collector. I also apologize in advance for any future stupid questions I ask.

Bob, there's no need to apologize. Some people do tend to over-react, so just ignore them.

The 625 Madison, as shown from the person asking the question about Dead Zone, has a true first/first with the copyright page in the right printed format order.
To Frank mentioning there are book clubs with the same 625 Madison address is a yes, but it is printed at the bottom of the page.
