The Shining 1st Edition "S14"
Just picked up a copy of The Shining by Doubleday. $8.95 on the DJ...S14 on the gutter page for $30 off ebay. Since R49 was the 1st/1st, is this a 1st/2nd?

Probably. With the dj price the same, I think it's very possible. Is there a number line on the copyright page?

No number line, but I've been able to do a little research into the book and it appears there may be an "S3" printing as well. One copy of the book sold on ebay in early September with an $8.95 DJ too. One bid, $24.

Based on the codes R49 should have been printed the 49th week of 1976, S3 would have been printed the third week in January of 1977.... Totally plausible the price would be the same with just a few weeks separation in printing.
