Carrie 1/1

Post by TheLangoleer »

I recently purchased a Carrie 1/1 with a PRISTINE unclipped jacket. The book has a few issues, gilt is slightly faded, little board warp but not to bad, and a slight name in a little bit of crayon (which can be removed). What would be the value of this?

90% of the value is in the jacket, so you would still get $900 for it.

sounds like a good find. Question is how much $$ did you fork over. :) I'm still perplexed when I read that 90% of a books value is in the dust jacket. I totally understand how this can be true in some instances...but as a blanket statement it's hard to fathom.

Ok...so here is a good question then. How much would a Carrie first edition go for without Dust jacket. A carrie in excellent condition,..and a carrie in normal, slight fading to gilded spine, etc, etc, as previously described.

yaaawwwnnnnn.....

I'd say between $100 and $150.

I'd say 454 for both a Carrie and Salem's Lot 1/1 is a great buy - considering the price for Carrie alone is usually, what, 700-900? Almost seems to good to be true, or the seller didn't know what they had.
