I have two first edition copies of Eyes of the Dragon. Each has the same dust jacket front, back, and inside... but the spine of one is different. Instead of the read lettering with white "shadow", it has a goldish silver lettering. I can't seem to find any mention of different covers... somewhere someone mentioned this may be a printing error or a difference in product as a result of varied printing locations. I'm not sure if this is true.
Are both valued the same? Is it similar to Insomnia, with two simultaneously released dust jackets versions?
(I'm currently scrutinizing my collection... so I apologize if I end up posting a number of questions! I truly appreciate all of your help!)

Re: Eyes of the Dragon DJ Question
Usually any differences in the spine is down to sun fading.
The red spectrum is the first to go.

A photo would help, but the spine especially is the first to be damaged by the sun as it's the section of the book typically exposed to the sun

At first, I thought it was sun damage... but the front cover green is the same shade and the red there has no fading. I'll try to upload better photos later.TheCollector wrote:A photo would help, but the spine especially is the first to be damaged by the sun as it's the section of the book typically exposed to the sun

Re: Eyes of the Dragon DJ Question
Two questions.
1) I see the green color of the DJ is also "off" Does the green front of the DJ match the spine or is just the spine? If it's just the spine it's sun damage, if the entire DJ has the same color scheme then it's something else
2) Are they both the same edition? You can visit the EOTD page to see how to check for a 1st edition....For other editions one big giveaway would be different prices on the DJ. If one has $18.95 and the other has $19.95 (for example) then they're different printings for sure.

Re: Eyes of the Dragon DJ Question
The green front of the DJ matches the spine... and the red on the front is not faded in any way.
They are both first edition first printings. It's odd, right? I did find another post on another forum somewhere without photos... another person had the same books. Someone replied stating that certain publishing locations may have used different inks to print the same editions? They noted the following three differences in this cover:
Some with red on spine, some with gold on spine, some with red on spine missing white "shadow" effect.

Re: Eyes of the Dragon DJ Question
My DRAGONs were bought brand new and have remained virtually untouched and free of sunlight since. The only discrepency I notice in the printing is the white background offsetting the red letters is more noticeable on some. I believe it is a printing condition.
