I'm not quite sure as I don't follow the comics very closely, but a few days ago I noticed that stephenking.com posted:

Marvel Comics has annouced a midnight release for the new arc of the Dark Tower series. http://stephenking.com/assets/dt_08/

I was wondering that myself. The comic book store owner told me that the number of comics printed for each issue is determined by how many are ordered by the stores the month before,so there's never a substantial amount of unsold issues. I'm sure some extras are printed but I can't imagine the alternate covers going unsold this long.
The sketch variants don't really excite me,I like the colored covers.

I agree the color ones are much more visually interesting. I was collecting the sketch because they are rarer and therefore more likely to appreciate in value. It just worried me that there is now so many out all at once

I can't find anywhere that they have been reproduced. I bought the first three when issued so I might as well as finish out the set ,the prices are certainly right.

Here is how 'The Gunslinger Born' comic sets break down:

1-7, 1st printing, regular Jae Lee color covers

1-4, 2nd printing, variant color covers

1-2, 3rd printing, variant color covers

1-7, 1/25 color variant covers (The 1/25 signifies a comic dealer must purchase 25 copies of one regular issue to receive 1 copy of the 1 in 25 variants)

1-7, 1/75 black and white Jae Lee sketch variant covers (Same deal as the 1 in 25's, except the dealer must purchase 75 copies of one issue to receive the 1 in 75 sketch variants)

The promotional sketchbook, Marvel Spotlight, Gunslinger's Guidebook, and hardback omnibus graphic novel of 1-7 round out all you could ever gather for the 'Gunslinger Born' comic series. Basically a bunch of different covers for the same material.

Hope this list is of some help to you. My comic geek brother helped explain all of this to me. Without his infinite comic knowledge, I would be completely lost when it comes to matters of the comic book persuasion.

Now - bring on all the schwag from 'The Long Road Home'!

I tried to quote the last post and ended up inserting my question in the middle of the quote.

Any ideas on how many sketch varients were printed?

I have spoken with a couple different comic vendors and they say that there were probably 1500-2500 of the Gunslinger Born #1 1:75 sketch editions that were printed.
