Blockade Billy from LRB is out! Comments?

Post by fleggett »

At least the numbered has shipped, though the letter should be shipping very soon. Mine arrived on Thursday, #306 of 350. Any thoughts from those who bought it?

I think Lonely Road did a great job. I especially like how they mounted the baseball cards. Quality! (I got #159). I don't have a lettered one coming (just too expensive for me).

It is wonderful work - but I'm still trying to convince myself it was really worth the price.
And just a suggestion - don't take out the BB cards. I did with the Billy one and it goes back in looser - can tell it's been out. Didn't remove the SK one tho - anyone have a shot of what's on the back of it?

I have an aftermarket one coming. Will let you know what I think when I get it (a couple of weeks or more).

I have to say that I took out the Stephen King card from my book so that I could see the back. I put it back with no problems whatsoever. It's as tight a fit as it was before.

I have to say I love my copy. I think the way the cards are displayed, and then of course the book itself, make this a wonderful edition. I don't own any other S/L at this stage, but from what I've seen of others, this BB edition does seem to stand out.

I originally considered selling it (before it actually arrived) as the story doesn't make my top 10 list or anything, but I'm glad I decided to keep it.

Thoughts on what the value may stabilise at?

I got my numbered, and then also bought a lettered. I think it's possibly the best looking lettered book I have, as far as the way it is mounted in the case, the red 'leather' covers, and the positioning of the baseball cards, all make for a very attractive presentation.

And I liked the story too!

Check out the secret history of Stephen King's baseball card from this edition:

Tomas: now we know there are two different cards out there, do you think this would have an impact on the value for the rarer edition?

As usual with my rotten luck both my S/L and lettered editions have the same card, which is not the rarer one.
