Very sorry, I should have noted that I am not seeking any signed editions. I'll edit the original post. All the signed copies I own were signed by the authors when I met them, which is more valuable to me. I don't find myself interested in works signed for other people (even without names). Someone else will no doubt be very interested in those rare finds! :D

First post updated.

I'm thinking of grabbing some of the less expensive books I'm still seeking this week... so if anyone is selling any of those up there for under $20, let me know!

I'm not sure if you're in a big town or not, but those cheaper 1st editions should be relatively easy to find at your local bookstore. Considering the cost of shipping that's what I usually recommend folks doing (Dolores Claiborne, Pet Semetery, Just after Sunset, etc)

Buying local also let's you see/feel the book in hand before buying...and it's fun :)

I'm always hunting for deals in the local used book stores, yard sales, and farmer's markets! You're right, it is a lot of fun! Actually, my father is working for a used book circulation place now. Unfortunately, all the King firsts he gets in are duplicates of what I already have. I snatch them up anyway and sometimes replace my copies with some in better condition. So, I do have a bunch of duplicates to sell/trade.

I've noticed, though, that when I purchase direct from a collector I end up with better quality editions. Some of the books I've obtained from other King fans are perfect! I may pay a bit more and shipping can be required, but I usually feel it's worth it. Plus... I feel like books have personality. I consider those I find at flea markets to be "rescues" saved from an unknown fate; no longer at risk of being manhandled by grubby fingers, roughly read by dog-earing coffee spillers, or worse! The books I "adopt" from other loving collectors find permanent homes on my shelves as well. With them, I feel like I'm collecting the collectors too. It makes collecting feel more like a community endeavor; knowing that this book once sat on a shelf next to a signed copy, that book was owned by someone who read King before I was born, and so on... it adds to the personality.

For a long time, I refused to get rid of any books... I had over a dozen copies of From a Buick 8 shrink wrapped, half a dozen of every book published after 1996, and many other duplicates. Not to mention my non-King books! (I kept every single book I ever owned... at one point, I had a few thousand books in my one room apartment.) I clearly have attachment issues. When I moved, I realized that it was overkill and I needed to spread the love around a little bit. I'm doing a much better job of sharing now. ;)

I have a Uk 1st Edition 'Salem's Lot if you are interested? Price not clipped, in good dustjacket.

Let me know if you are on the hunt for UK editions.

Cheers
James

Thanks for the offer, jimimck! I'm not hunting for a UK 'Salem's Lot, but in the future, if I'm hunting for any UK editions, I'll be sure to let you know!
