Problems with the new site? Post them Here

Ok folks,

In anticipation of the new site rollout I'm putting a thread up here for any issue/problems you may have. The site has been tested with IE-7, IE-8, Firefox and Safari.

If you're still using IE-6 I don't anticipate anything major, but I havn't actually tested on it.

Also, the site was designed to look it's absoute best on 1280x1024 but I've tested larger and smaller it looks fine except if your screen resolution is 800x600 or 640x480... The site will work just fine but you'll need to do a bit more scrolling around as colums and pictures just won't condense down that small.

Lastly if you're using IE-7/8 and you notice you can't stay logged into the forums you need to allow Session Cookies by going to TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS - PRIVACY. GO to the internet icon and check the "Always allow Session Cookies"... This will allow the forum to recognize you if you navigate away from the forums.

That's all I can think of for now, hopefully nothing else will crop up (famous last words)

The site looks good, but I hate the scrollbars within the sight itself, and I like my screen resolution the way it is. I can't read some of the posts because the horizontal scrollbar is too far below the posts and it is a pain to scroll up and down just to read a few more words of text. I stopped posting pictures at Palaver because they made it too much of a pain and I don't think I'll post any more here because of the same reason. Not your fault, I know you are working within limits, but these are just my thoughts.

This is just a minor issue. When you use the new links for UK Limiteds and 1st Editions on the top righthand side of the home page, you are brought to, what look like, pages from the old site. That's not a problem because all the book links work perfectly and bring you to the cool new info pages with pop out copyright images. But if you use the Home tab which is on the lefthand side of those two pages (the UK Limiteds and 1st Editions), instead of getting to the home page, you get a page of text with the following info:
Multiple Choices
The document name you requested (/index.html) could not be found on this server. However, we found documents with names similar to the one you requested.

Available documents:

* /index.php (common basename)

Please consider informing the owner of the referring page about the broken link.
Using the latest version of Firefox.

In agreement with ur2ndbiggestfan (I also posted this in the other thread about the new site): the extra scrollbars annoy me a bit as well... I understand this happens because the forum is embedded in the main site, but it would probably be 'cleaner' to have the forum open in a new tab or window.

Hey folks,

I don't like the pop-out idea because you'll loose all the navigation bars. The forums, in essance would be a standalone, separate site.

However I know people's screen resolutions can vary and all this embedding can be a problem. For now, use the URL below, feel free to bookmark it and use it as your forums link. This will show you just the form itself, no scrolling, no iframe just a nice, clean forum.

EDIT - Just to be clear, you need to past the link into a new window

Hi Clacke,

That shouldn't be the case... I have a feeling that firefox is pulling up a cached page link (I was getting similar things the first couple times I visited the site in firefox).....If you get to a page that looks like the "old" site, hit F5 to refresh the page. It should be replaced with a new version from now on.

If that doesn't work for you, let me know.

You were right, Tomas. Working fine now. Thanks for that. :D

The first day after the site went live I had the extra scroll bars on the forums, but as of yesterday it seems they have gone away. YAY!

Don't know if you did something to fix it or not Collector but it is working on the pages for me now. :)

Edit: Interesting development with this, on some of the forum posts this still happens and on others it doesn't.

(Not a problem)

The UTD page says the S/L is numbered. They are not numbered.
