Slipcases and Mylar Covers

Post by ELazansky »

Hello All:

I was curious if everyone puts mylar covers on books with slipcases. I bought the Insomnia Gift Edition, but when I put a mylar cover on the book, I couldn't fit it back in the slipcase. I also just received the Talisman/Black House set, and it looks like a very tight fit as is, so adding mylar covers to both books looks impossible. Just wondering what others are doing with these types of sets. Thanks.

I seldom put the Mylar covers on books that have slipcases, for just the reasons cited. I do, however, when possible, put the entire package, slipcase and all, in an archival plastic bag for added protection. Of course, this is not always possible given the size of some of them (Eyes of the Dragon, Illustrated Salem's Lot, for example), but I do like the added protection.

John,

Can you tell me what size bags you use and where you get them from? I was looking at Bags Unlimited but I can't find large archival bags big enough to fit some of these massive books.

I just get them from my local comics store--I don't know where they get them. They have most sizes. They don't always have them in stock, but they can often order them for me.
