My question is. I have first edition first print Carrie and on the inside of the cover is a stamp that says "With complimants of doubleday & company Inc". The book is in fine condition. What is the story behind the stamp? I have never seen one of these or a Carrie with one. Does it devalue the book? Thank you in advance for any information on the stamp.

I'm sure Jhanic can give you a better answer, but it is a book Doubleday gave to a reviewer or maybe someone who happened to be visiting the office. I have a similar 1st/1st of LORD OF LIGHT by Roger Zelazny stamped FROM THE DOUBLEDAY LIBRARY. I think it DOES devalue the book, but probably not by much, especially CARRIE, which is a highly sought after book.

There are a few collectors who collect "Review Copies" of King books, but not many. If you had the red card which goes with this, your book would be worth considerably more.

I agree. I'm one of those who collect the Review Copies, but I'd like to have one with the publisher's note.
