Later edition of Carrie

Post by retcop »

Seeking information about a copy of Carrie, not a first edition. This copy has the original jacket but priced at $7.95. The book has a tan cloth binding with black spine lettering. The gut code on page 199 is 'V8" which I understand indicates that it was printed in the 8th week of 1980.
I'm curious about the book value if any, but more curious about the jacket price. $7.95 seems low for a reprint six years after the original.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd say that the book is worth maybe $10 if it's in fine condition. A lot of collectors will use it to fill-in until they find a first/first. The reprints just don't increase in value that much. ($7.95 in 1980 isn't that outrageous. Prices increase a little at a time after a paperback is issued.)

Thanks. I thought that the $7.95 priced jacket would be too low for a 1980 reprint/later edition. It's the first time I've seen this book with tan cloth boards and the V8 gut code.
