Pencil marks...to erase or not...The Gunslinger 2nd Edition

Hi all, just bought myself a lovely example of The Gunslinger Second Edition, I’m pretty new to collecting so just wanted to ask a couple of questions. At the front of the book, someone has written in pencil the price of the book, it’s very faint and only occupies an area of about 2 x 2cm...so, should I leave this as it is? Attempt to erase it? What are your thought? Also will this have a detrimental effect on the price? I’ll add a picture later 👍

I have this in some books I've picked up from small independent book dealers, it was a pretty common way for book shops to price their books, probably still is. I've never bothered to erase it, but if you do, don't use a crappy eraser that's going to just smear the pencil marks in.

Here's a little eraser guide from my favorite pen store.

They also sell a sampler eraser set with 7 different erasers for $8.50

Aand, if you're an amazon fan I use these myself, 10 pack for $7 bucks

Ok sorry to turn this into a shill for erasers folks :), you've revealed one of my other small obsessions which is office supplies

I've always used the softest, cleanest eraser I can find as long as the writing is fairly faint. Gently is the key.
