1st Edition Question

I recently picked up two books at resell-it shops and by all accounts (except one) they are 1st editions. The one exception, for both, is the number of pages. The first is Lisey's Story. All the indicators of a 1st edition are right except the number of pages. The copy I've got only has 513 where all the internet sites I've seen say it should have 528. Same thing for Blaze. The copy I have only has 285, where again, according to the internet, it should have 304. There is one other issue with Blaze, which may not be an issue at all, is the trim size, but I haven't found any sites listing the trim size for this book. The copy I have is slightly smaller; 8.75"x5.75".

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Do the books have prices on the dust jackets? If not, they are probably book club editions.

Yes, they are both price marked on the inside front dj flap. Again, every indicator of a 1st edition, 1st print is correct on both except the number of pages. And the trim size of Blaze. Which may be correct, but I haven't found anything listing the correct size.

Thanks!

Blaze is a slightly smaller book so I think you're fine.

I'll have to dig out my copies and look - I've found sometimes sites count not just the numbered pages but also unnumbered pages (for example the copyright and title pages) in the total. But a 19 page difference does seem like a bit, can't remember if there's a forward or something else in there where the pages aren't actually numbered.

Thanks! I appreciate your help.

And I haven't counted the un-numbered pages to see if that makes up for the differences or not. Will check it out when I get home.

Thanks again!!

MM--This is just a general question, has nothing to do with a 1st Edition--I didn't know where to go, so, here I am...Has anyone read "Sleeping Beauties" by Stephen King and his son Owen?? I bought this book and have not had a chance to read it yet and I want to know if it is any good... :D

It is not very good. He is just helping his son and trying to get his career started by using his name. Just the same as Joe Hill, or Stella McCartney, or any of the other children of famous people.

It's by far not the greatest book King has written. The latter part of the book is much more political than a story.
