The Stand orginial

Post by knisley1988 »

I have a true first edition of the Stand ( the original) It has the gutter code and states first edition of copyright page. The Dust Jacket however is price clipped and not in very good shape. Is it worth trying to sell it and if so how do I determine the value?

Hi, sorry for the delay in the reply. up to 90% of the value of the early Doubleday editions is in the dustjacket. With the DJ being price clipped it's is basically treated as a BC (Book Club) edition because there's way to tell if a price clipped DJ is a true 1st edition DJ, a later printing, or a BC DJ.

Combine that with the fact that the DJ (regardless of edition) isn't in good shape, unfortunately, even if the book itself is a 1st edition with the appropriate gutter code the value isn't going to be much better than $20-$40 at best.

You can check eBay auctions for copies of the stand with missing DJ's or later printings to get a sense of what you can get for it if you post it on eBay.
