Dolores Claiborne uk bca

Post by 18holer »

I have a copy of Dolores Claiborne UK BCA edition. My question is on the inside it says This edition published 1992 by BCA, by arrangements with Hodder and Stoughton Ltd. (followed by) First reprint 1992, does this statement mean it is a true first print or is it a second print. Any help would be appreciated.

Good question, I know the BCA edition precedes the actual H&S Trade edition, so that's a good sign.

I was able to find an ABE Seller that lists the true 1st BCA edition, he has a partial pic of the copyrght page and mentions a smaller edition coded coded CN6975 in the description.

If no one else chimes in this might be helpful, even just to email the guy if needed.

My copy also has that sequence of CN6975, be interesting to find out. I want to sell it but I must be sure it is a true first print. Thank you
for your help so far.

All BCA books have a 6 digit identifier code. CN6975 is the identifier for Dolores Claiborne. All printings have the same code number. The printings are identified (as an example), "12th Impression" for the 12th printing.

The first printing says, "This edition published 1992 by BCA by arrangement with Hodder & Stoughton Ltd".

I think the "First Reprint 1992" means that it is the first printing, but I'm not certain. I sold my copy years ago and can't remember what it said.
