Sad ending indeed....pity too...this would be up there for the find of the decade award.

I would be also be careful of the Q37. I had someone try to sell me a minty First Edition Night Shift for cheap. When I looked closer he had taken a black pen and modified the code.

The jacket is exactly as suggested - one of the facsimiles.
The book is still a 1st edition though.
Any idea of the value w/ the fake jacket?
Anyone?
It's in mint shape.
As for value of a first edition first printing without a correct dust jacket, I would say $75.00 maybe $100.00 on a good day. I am basing this on a 1st /1st second state @ $700.00 with a good jacket and a 3rd state being $200.00 with a good jacket. You can see how important a correct DJ is to a book’s value.

The going rate on Ebay for a 1st Edition 'Salem's Lot (in this case, minus the 1st Ed dust jacket) is about $100-$150 (MAX).

Does anyone know how to tell the edition/print of this copy of the book? I THOUGHT the first editions were formatted like this. Because all the others I've seen, the publishing how is place lower left for later versions. Image
The jacket is regular and priced @ $14.95

What is the gutter code on page 439? That will at least tell you the month and year of printing.
