Hey, i'm looking to get a 1st copy of Insomnia with the variant DJ, however all on ebay (as i'm writing this) have the £18.00 (export only) i'm honestly having a hard time trying to find one without it. why is it that not many of the true 1sts are listed, i came across only 2 one had a torn DJ, and the other was the white DJ that i have. any thoughts?

I'm not sure what you mean by a variant dust jacket for the UK Insomnia. I have a UK first/first but I got it when it was first published. There were two other editions of Insomnia published--one a signed limited of 200 copies and another what i term as a gift edition of 2000 copies. If I remember correctly, neither of these was issued with a dust jacket.

The US edition was published with two dust jacket variants--one with white lettering on red and the other red lettering on white. Is this what you meant?

Hi John, yes what you said is what i mean, the US Viking red and white lettering not the UK Hodder edition, all the US Vikings i have come across on Ebay at the moment all say on the bottom of the DJ flap - £18.00 (export only), i have the copy with white lettering on red background (without the £ export price), but am looking for the red lettering edition with white background, but as stated above currently on ebay all i'm finding are export copy's even from reliable King sellers.

Both my US Insomnia versions (both versions of the red/white, white/red lettering) have that "export only" comment at the bottom with the 18 pound price printed. Does this mean they are not true first editions?

My copies Red & White and White & Red have three prices and say (export only) on the bottom flap. I bought some in Canada and some in the USA. They all have the 987654321 line so they must be first trade editions.

Hi, question for John, does your copy of the Viking 1st Insomnia (either jacket variants) have £18.00 export only on the bottom of the DJ flap.

Thanks ,

Owen

Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you sooner, but my copies are not readily available. As soon as I can dig them out, I'll let you know.
