thl - I went down this road myself in June, so you're in luck, the footwork is done. The remarques you've got were commissioned by Steve Sargent at Calligraphic Collectibles in England. The matched lettered sets are after-market (if that's the correct term here), not part of the original publications (you can read all those numbers on the Colorado Kid page here on The Collector's site). I saw the sets advertised on eBay, and being dubious of any sellers I'm not familiar with, I did my homework. Among others I wrote to Tomas here at The Collector, David at Betts Books, and I also wrote to all three artists directly. David gave me good information and told me that he owned a set (always a good sign). I was also surprised to hear back almost immediately from two of the artists, Les Edwards and JK Potter. Here's the message from Les Edwards:

Dear George,

Thanks for your email.

Yes I can certainly confirm that Steve Sargent did directly commission me to do the remarques in copies of "my" Colorado Kid books. They are completely genuine. I have also seen the remarques done by Glenn & JK and they are genuine too. In fact I have a copy of each.

Best

Les Edwards aka Edward Miller

That pretty much sealed the deal for me, and I purchased a set myself (letter V). I also wrote Tomas, gave him the info, and suggested he contact Steve about posting all of the sketches on his remarques page. I'm happy to say the first of those pages are now up and you can check them out yourself; go to the Home page then down the bottom click "Remarques", then choose Glenn Chadbourne Colorado Kid. I see there that the letter Z copy is missing, so I'm sure Tomas would be happy to receive photos/scans of your pages to add.

Hope this answers your question; congrats on a nice set of remarques.

George

P.S. I've been lurking here on The Collector for a long time, this is my first post ... of many to come, I hope.

Thanks John, happy to be here. I only recently started up a remarques collection, I'm learning as I go and happy to pass on the info. The highlight of my collection is Vincent Chong's "Low Men in Yellow Coats" in Stephen King Goes to the Movies, it's posted on the Remarques page. You've already helped me out a lot, though you don't know it ... I have a small Proofs/ARCs collection and your stuff is without a doubt some of the best reference material out there. I'm up to a whopping 17 books so far with the highlights being a UK #122 of Lisey's Story and a Darrell Anderson signed DT 3-7 set. I've been reading Stephen King for 40 years, just wish I'd been buying more than just trade copies all that time!

Thanks for sharing everyone!

So if you haven't guessed it already I'm going to officially state it on the forums...

The next two Remarque pages are going to be the Potter and Miller remarques from The Colorado Kid (in that order). Miller is going to take the longest because he did not lablel his remarques so I need to sort them out, make sure I don't get duplicates or miss one.

I am missing some remarques from these sets as well, but not as many as the Chadborne set.
