Numbered Editions - Does having the same number matter?

Hey all,

I have a quick question. I'm currently collecting the PS Publishing numbered anniversary editions of King's work.

So far I have this lot:

Christine - 30th Anniversary Edition (750 numbered print run)
Pet Sematary - 30th Anniversary Edition (750 numbered print run)
Carrie - 40th Anniversary Edition (974 numbered print run)
Thinner - 30th Anniversary Edition (974 numbered print run)

Skeleton Crew and Salem's Lot are upcoming releases.

Now I've heard it said that it is better if all copies have the same number for example each book is number 160.

Why is this?
Will they be more valuable if they all have the same number?

Surely it would be better if they all had separate low numbers (for example Carrie 16/974, Thinner 57/974).

Thanks for your help.

All mine are all the same low number, but they are not any more valuable than a high or different number. These books have been printed many times before and therefore will never be worth any more than issue price.

In general, many collectors like having the same number and are willing to pay a small premium for that. Others don't really care. As Mr. RT says, those Anniversary editions are not as desirable as the originals, but they do have great artwork. I personally don't collect them, mainly because of space concerns and the fact that they are not signed by King.

Some guys care, some don't. However, PS stated before and that could change but they were going to make a limited run of these types of editions. I remember hearing just 7 books and then that is it. So far we have....6 I believe. One more and done? If so then maybe having the same number for the set will have more value. Time will tell. I have all the same number :).

Thanks all.

I only asked because I needed Christine and Pet Sematary and I found them on ebay but they were in a set with Carrie and Thinner (which I already owned). Anyway long story short I now have the following copies (see numbers in brackets).

Christine (No. 142)
Pet Sematary (No. 142)
Carrie (No. 142)
Thinner Cover 2 (No. 142)

Carrie (No. 22)
Thinner Cover 1 (No. 57)
Thinner Cover 2 (No. 58)

The next book Skeleton Crew so my question is which is the better line up (I'm only going to keep one of the line ups)

Line Up 1

Christine (No. 142)
Pet Sematary (No. 142)
Carrie (No. 142)
Thinner Cover 2 (No. 142)
Skeleton Crew Cover 1 (No. 142) (if I can request it)
Skeleton Crew Cover 2 (No. 142) (if I can request it)

Line Up 2

Christine (No. 142)
Pet Sematary (No. 142)
Carrie (No. 22)
Thinner Cover 1 (No. 57)
Thinner Cover 2 (No. 58)
Skeleton Crew Cover 1 (leave it to chance and hope for a low number)
Skeleton Crew Cover 2 (leave it to chance and hope for a low number)

I'm leaning toward Line Up 2 because it has some low numbers in there.

What do you lot reckon?

Thanks again.

I'd attempt to keep the same number 142 if you can. Low number really means nothing unless you are completing the Gunslinger signed set. Salem's Lot is sold out from CD I know that as they had a limited quantity. I'd email both CD and PS and tell them your number and see if they have your number. Sell the other books then.

Does having number 1 mean anything?

I have this -

which I got directly from PS Publising. I was quite surprised to see the number, as I thought that would usually go to author, publisher, or in this case artist
