Re: Showcase your SK collectibles!
I received this today:
Thanks to Eric for getting a good copy for me!
It's more a bound galley than a proof. Here's part of the page that starts King's story "You Know They Got a Hell of a Band":
I also received a Secretary of Dreams Vol. 2 proof that doesn't have the numbers written on the page sides. I'm not showing that one because the only difference between that one and the one I've already shown is the lack of the numbers.

Hardcover? So this is not one of the 77 initial proofs?

No, this is a hardcover ARC. My contact in the UK didn't get his copy of the actual proof (it got misdirected by the post office and disappeared) but he did get this. I'm still looking for the UK proof.

79. That's going back. I know Carrie is the first novel - but is it the "first" proof? Was he published in any anthologies etc before that?

Re: Showcase your SK collectibles!
I'm not sure I understand your question. The Dead Zone was first published in 1979, the sixth (seventh if you count Rage) book that King published. There were proofs of all of these six books (Rage did not have a proof) produced. I'm not sure if a UK proof of Carrie was ever done, and all the early proofs, from Salem's Lot to The Stand, are very scarce.
The earliest anthology that I own that contains a King item is Baseball: I Gave You The Best Years of My Life from 1977, that has the poem Brooklyn August in it. There may well have been other appearances in anthologies before that one, though.

The 1st anthology that King had a story in was, "People, Places & Things – Volume 1", by Steve King and Chris Chesley.Lurker wrote:79. That's going back. I know Carrie is the first novel - but is it the "first" proof? Was he published in any anthologies etc before that?
The 1st anthology book was, "Shadows" which contained "Nona. This was published in 1978 and had a proof release beforehand.
