Look for an 11/22/63 annoucement Monday

Guys,

I just got the latest round of photos in from the Bindery that put in some last minute tweaks to the 11/22/63 traycase. My jaw just about dropped! THIS THING LOOKS AMAZING :!:

A departure from the style of the Doubleday cases that look to match the book design exactly. This one has a classic feel to it that will transport you back to the decade that 11/22/63 was set in.

I should have it in my hands on Friday. I'll take some proper photos over the weekend and you guys can expect an announcement on it Monday. You won't be disappointed.

Tomas, I'll probably be ordering two cases from you. I have two signed US editions that I want the cases for.

Sounds cool Tomas.

I'm still pissed about being selected to buy one of the signed editions, but then not having any luck convincing them to ship it to me overseas!

Not sure if I need a case for a standard 1st edition, but keen to see what they look like.

The 11/22/63 traycases are available to preorder! Although it's structurarly similar to The Stand and Salem's Lot cases (clamshell design, 3 sided box & magnetic clasp) it's a departure in style from the previous cases.

It was designed to have a classic 50's/60's feel to it that matched the colors on the DJ. Go ahead lay out the comments good or bad.

Looks very cool! I love the insert idea too.

Damn it - now I am strongly considering getting one for my 1st edition. Hmmm, maybe I need to add a s/l to my wish list....

I'm glad you guys like it. I have to say, when you get it in person you're going to love feeling the linen and deep debossing done on the 11/22/63 imprint. It just has a great texture to it.

One thing I should mention now, (since I've gotten a couple emails about it) the insert shown is an earlier B&W draft the binder sent over. The final version is

a) spell checked
b) In color, meaning it will have that that brownish Sepia aged tone to it, similar to the DJ of the book, instead of the B&W you see on the sample shots.

The final color versions haven't been printed yet so when the bindery sent over the prototype last Friday they used what they had on hand.

Tomas, how does the insert work in regard to changing the side on view? Do you carefully slide it out of the four corner holders? or is it something that comes out all together and you choose what side to show?

(hmmm, not sure I've explained my query too well there - I guess I'm trying to ask if the red corners that show in the picture are part of a separate device that holds the paper or if they are attached to the traycase itself...)

Cheers
James

Hey James,

The corners are attached to the traycase and you slide the paper into the corners. If you purchased a Centipede Press Salem's Lot case for me years ago it also had similar corners to hold the photo cutouts. The reason you see the corners in the sample shots is because I just cropped a photo of the news placard when it was in the case.

We're using an either 80 or 100 point paperstock for the newsprint (it's quite thick) specifically so you can take it in and out of the corners without worrying about it ripping or creasing.

The corners themselves weren't super tight on the prototype I received, loose enough it was easy to slide the sheet in and out, tight enough that it won't come loose.

Just kidding! I'm the most patient guy in the universe.

Ok, where is it?
