According the CD, they are only offering the chance to purchase their slipcase for a limited time. And with their track record, who knows when it will actually be made and shipped to buyers....
That's a very interesting point...can anyone that ordered the Cemetery Dance slipcase for Under the Dome tell me if they received theirs? When it was annouced they were supposedly all ready to go and would hit their bindery "immediately"....Last time I asked this question a couple months ago nothing had been delivered.
I'm sure you saw the email, but for anyone else that did not read it through, here is the section detailing the Blockade slipcase delivery:

Dated April 26

"As promised, we closed the window for ordering a Blockade Billy slipcase for your World's 1st Edition and no more orders will be taken. Production time for our slipcase maker is usually around 8 weeks. This one may take a little longer due to the very large size of the order, but we'll keep you updated."

All that to say, I've dealt with CD long enough to take what they say with a grain of salt. From what little I've heard elsewhere, CD has not delivered on their UTD cases yet and I somehow doubt they will be going out any time soon. I'm guessing the above email was sent to placate people (such as me) who have been waiting for some of their other goods for years and years and years and years. Anyway, I'm not holding my breath for the 8 week deadline on Blockade but stranger things have happened.

No bids at that price...frankly if anyone did buy it for $1,000 they're making a bad investment.

I see a small bump in the value of the 1st/1st after a while--maybe to $50 or so. More than $200 is ridiculous!

I think the s/l Blockade Billy will hold its price ($465 including the s/h) but I don't see it going for much more in the foreseeable future.

I have to say I'm not really surprised. A number of people just order them to resell them.

Yep. Not a true collector. Just someone trying to make a quick buck...

There's always a quick buck to be made when buying directly from the publisher. But lately the price has been +50-100% of the issue price. That's $675-$900. Considering the market and length of the book I'm inclined to value this at the very low end of this range at best....assuming it comes out.

I just realized that no-one has posted this from CD:
Hi there!

You're receiving this email because you ordered BLOCKADE BILLY by Stephen King.

Our SECOND printing, which was done exclusively for the libraries, arrived last week and has been shipping out the door by the carton. By the end of this week, every single copy will be gone.

That said, we've heard from several Stephen King "completist" collectors who needed this second printing for their collection -- especially once word started to get around that we used entirely different "cream" endpapers for the second printing to make it easily distinguishable from the first printing. (The copyright page was also updated.)

Several of these collectors pointed out that there will probably be very few "mint" copies of this second printing in circulation since they are all shipping to libraries, and these collectors really wanted one for their collection.

We talked it over and we've set aside a small batch of second printing copies for these serious Stephen King collectors, so if you need a second printing for your collection, please place your order in the next 72 HOURS. After that, we'll send the rest of these to the libraries.

You can place your order here while supplies last:

http://www.cemeterydance.com/page/CDP/PROD/king04

If you live outside the US and are still waiting on your First Printing to ship, please be aware that we're processing those orders as quickly as we can. There is some additional paperwork and trips to the post office required, but we are working hard to get you your copy as soon as possible.

Thanks again for your support of Cemetery Dance Publications!

~ Mindy
I have a feeling that, because the vast majority of this second printing will be going to libraries, etc. it may be more scarce than the first. I doubt there will be any big appreciation in the value, though, because it IS the second printing.
